Dear Mr. DeVries,
I am writing with regards to a real estate sale I made with Gladys Baart, an agent with your firm. It was because of Gladys’ excellent guidance that the deal was completed and finalized with the least amount of difficulty to me. Gladys, in my opinion, went far past her responsibility, as an agent, when my home at 91 Canter Blvd., Nepean caught on fire.
First, let me explain my situation. In the fall of 1992, I realized my needs were no longer being met at 91 Canter Blvd. Nepean. I then contacted Gladys if she would be able to show me some properties in the country. We did a lot of looking, each time Gladys was being very positive and reassuring, that sooner of later we would find the perfect property. In the spring of 1993 I decided to list my home. Gladys came several times and suggested several improvements to be made, to assure a quicker sale of the property. She also referred me to several reputable companies, set up appointments with then, to come and give estimates.
All the work was done quickly and efficiently. The house was sold in four days, once it was put on MLS. While my house was selling so quickly, Gladys showed me the perfect house, which I bought with condition of my home selling. My home did sell, conditional on a building inspection. It caught on fire during the building inspection and the roof burned. Once the fire was out, Gladys spoke with the new owners, the fire inspectors and the buyers’ real estate agent in such a positive attitude, that the house did end up being sold to the original buyer.
Gladys coordinated and assisted me in dealing with insurance adjusters, fire restoration crews, construction crews, their real estate agent and the new buyers. Through out all the discussions over the conflicts and concerns, the changes and improvements, Gladys was there to advise me and help me to stay on top of every aspect of the restoration.
Gladys also helped me personally- giving her support physically. The night after the fire she was there helping sort through wet, smoke damaged clothes and making lists of the contents in the house till 11p.m. She also went out of her way as agent and friend, to inviting my family and I into her home for dinner. She never let me give up hope that all would work out well when all was said and done.
Thanks to Gladys’ perseverance and positive influence, my house has sold and I am extremely grateful for a job well done.
Sincerely, Dorothy Vlaming

Dear Gladys,
On behalf of the people of Kanata Baptist Church I want to thank you for the work that you have done on our behalf to bring Stonewick Heights to reality. I remember very well the first time you proposed the idea to me of the possibility of housing behind the church. I knew it was a great idea – the thought of doing what it would take to get there was almost too much to comprehend.
Your own tenacity and consummate skill in pulling people together was always at the root of the success of what we now see risen out of the woods and the ashes of January. You have a wonderful gift of bringing your faith into practice and using your God given gifts for the glory of God.
There were many times I marveled at your ability to rise up over the dilemmas at hand to get to the real issues we were facing. Thank you for all your diligence in bringing the houses from your mind to bricks and mortar.
I want to thank you personally for your very pleasant demeanor and for always treating others with ultimate respect. As I watched you I learned a lot about the Christian in the marketplace. Your friendship will always be treasured. Knowing this area of Kanata, we will probably see each other again.
May God bless you and your family richly,
Yours affectionately in Christ, Doug Ward
